Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) has officially opened admissions for its inaugural academic session beginning in August 2025, introducing specialized courses across Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR).

As India strengthens its position in the global creative and digital economy, IICT aims to be a premier institution nurturing industry-ready professionals in the AVGC-XR space.

Established under the guidance of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and formally announced by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, IICT is envisioned as a global centre of excellence.

Indian Institute of Creative Technologies: Programs Co-Developed with Top Industry Players

The institute’s first academic offering will include six gaming courses, four in post-production, and eight focused on animation, comics, and XR technologies. All programs are co-developed with top industry players to ensure alignment with global best practices and emerging trends.

A key milestone for IICT is its strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of York, UK. This international collaboration will facilitate joint research, faculty exchange, and global certification pathways for Indian students.

IICT is also backed by major technology and media companies, including Google, YouTube, Adobe, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and JioStar. These partnerships will support curriculum development, scholarships, internships, incubation programs, and career placements.

The IICT Governing Board comprises eminent leaders including Sanjay Jaju, Vikas Kharge, Swati Mhase, Chandrajit Banerjee, Ashish Kulkarni, Manvendra Shukul, and Rajan Navani. Its Governing Council features Munjal Shroff, Chaitanya Chichlikar, Biren Ghose, Bhupendra Kainthola, and Gaurav Banerjee.
